Activity: Use a 30-second Weird News segment to create scaffolded opportunities to practice retelling a story. This allows ELs to work on listening and speaking skills and is a great way to practice for proficiency tests.
- Listen to the story together and ask students to read along with the transcript.
- Listen a second time as a group, allowing students to ask questions and providing any needed clarification.
- Have students retell the story in their own words.
