Activity: Add a listening organizer to assignments to help ELs practice close listening. These online organizers can help students stay focused while listening, promote precise listening, and improve comprehension.
- Each standards-aligned Listenwise lesson comes with a Language Identification organizer, which includes a list of 10 short phrases or sentences that appear in the order students will hear them in the story. Choose any lesson and create an assignment with this organizer to help students track the story while listening.
- For an asynchronous activity, have students listen independently using the organizer.
- For a synchronous activity, listen together as a whole class and have students use the organizer as they listen. You can preview the phrases prior to playing the audio or review them afterwards to make sure students understand them.
