Unlike Listenwise quizzes, written assignments are not auto-graded because these assignments allow for wide-ranging responses that are truly open-ended. They also feature the ability to add or remove comprehension questions, writing prompts, and graphic organizers, with the capability to be modified for different student abilities. That said, some parts of written assignments have resources to make it faster to grade, and this article will walk you through it.
Organizers
Some of our lessons provide graphic organizer answer keys and/or sample answers:
On our ELD lessons, we provide answer keys for the Fill-in-the-Blank organizers. Answers can be found on the Teacher's Guide under Second close listen: Language & Content
A majority of Elementary lessons include one of three graphic organizers: T-Chart, Fill-in-the-Blank or True/False organizer. These graphic organizers come with answer keys/sample answers, which can be found on the Teacher’s Guide, under During Listening.
Comprehension Questions
The comprehension questions are designed to assess if students understand the content of the podcast. Listenwise does not provide answer keys or rubrics for these questions, so teachers can choose how to review and assess in accordance with their instructional goals and assessment practices. Tips for providing feedback can be found in this blog post.
Writing Prompts
The Writing Assessor now offers teachers a lift in providing personalized feedback on student writing because it instantly analyzes student writing, providing key insights on ELP levels and areas of improvement to inform teacher feedback. The Writing Assessor provides feedback on writing skills rather than comprehension, and teachers can easily edit and add additional comments to further customize feedback for each student.
