Activity: Ask students to listen to a Listenwise story on their own, and then come together to discuss it as a class. This gives students time to explore lesson materials, review the content as much as needed, and prepare for discussion.
- Assign a Listenwise quiz or written assignment related to your unit of study for students to complete independently.
Tip: You can create multiple versions of assignments (see this article for more) to provide the right supports for different groups of students. - Come together as a class to discuss the story (every story includes listening comprehension and discussion questions, which can also be customized) or break students into small groups for discussion.
- If you want to keep the activity fully asynchronous, you can have students engage in an online threaded discussion or respond to a prompt in Flipgrid.
Learning Objectives: speaking & listening practice, reading & writing practice, student engagement, formative assessment
