Every standards-aligned Gen Ed lesson on Listenwise includes a Teacher’s Guide, which can be found under the blue audio bar on the lesson page. This article will detail the resources, including:
Listening Guide
The Listening Guide has suggestions for activities before, during, and after listening during a synchronous lesson. Feel free to follow the lesson plan exactly or customize it to best suit your curriculum, students, and schedule.

Before Listening
This section includes activities to help build background, activate prior knowledge, and introduce the story. It can also help you pre-teach vocabulary before students listen to the podcast.
During Listening
We provide guidance to support active listening in this section. Every lesson includes listening organizers (found on the Assignment Resources tab of a lesson), and we suggest ways to use these organizers while listening. Many teachers plan for multiple listens during their lesson.
We include sample responses/answer keys for many of the organizers (see the screenshot below).
After Listening
This last section prompts students to reflect on the story and respond to the comprehension questions (listed on the Assignment Resources tab of the lesson). Depending on your classroom and goals, students can work with a partner, in a small group, or as a whole class.
Many lessons include paired texts (found on the Assignment Resources tab of the lesson), so you can also have students compare and contrast what they learn from the podcast and the article.
Curriculum Connections
The Teacher’s Guide also lists books related to the lesson.
